If Zola Deserves The Sack, Then So Does Hughes

I was very disappointed with a recent article and a few forum posts suggesting that Zola deserves the sack and that maybe Steve Clark should take over. I am not going to go on about my reasons why as for the minute I think I have sufficiently covered them in a couple of my recent posts (The Sack For Zola? and Arsenal Match Report ).

After Manchester City’s loss against Bolton however, I had a quick look at their recent run of form in the league (specifically their last 6 games). It reads as follows: P6 W1 D1 L4, against the following teams respectively, beat Stoke, drew against Newcastle and lost to Wigan, Liverpool, Middlesborough and Bolton.

Incidently, our last 6 games have shown the same return and and we have also played Arsenal and Man Utd.

So with all due respect to anyone who is suggesting that maybe Zola should be sacked/replaced already then have a quick look at City’s recent run of league games, the manager they have in charge and the players they have on the pitch.

I guess all I am trying to say is, if Zola deserves the sack then so does Mark Hughes, yet noone is calling for his head.

Zola will and is slowly showing us that he has immense potential as a coach and I for one am exceptionally excited as to what he can bring to our club.

Sam

  1. i agree with you wholeheartedly… we are moving into an era of quick fix and managers are seen as the beginning and end of a bad team. As a Gooner I am pissed off with those who want Wenger’s head when if in a week’s time those same fans see a run of good results will change their tune. Zola is good for West Ham so give him time. A week is a long time in football and all of the teams are dropping points where they shouldn’t. Hell we keep asking for a more balanced league and when we start to see it people complain…….

  3. Lets give Zola a chance ,I agree with your points and think that Zola will be a good manager for us and for the team. I think they have got a lot more respect for him than they did for Curbs. He will in time add a lot to our team. Plus better players might be more willing to come and I also believe he will nurture the young talent we have!!
